Reverend Eddie Wilson Obituary

Reverend Eddie Wilson, 88, of Pontiac, passed away peacefully at home on August 3, 2025.  Born April 7, 1937, in Clarksdale, Mississippi, to the late, Sidney Wilson and Mary Pratt, he was also preceeded death by six siblings; Sidney Wilson, II, R.L. Wilson, his twin brother Freddie Wilson, Annie Lee Bell, Leola Thomas and Mary Williams.


Eddie was a devoted father of two children; Betty Sykes of Clarksdale, MS, and Eddy Wilson, Ii of Pontiac, MI.


Eddie's educational journey began in Mississippi and continued with college classes at Oakland University.  Following three years of service in the U.S. Army and an honorable discharge in 1961, he embarked on a 25-year career at General Motors as a skilled tradesman, retiring in 2006.  His most profound calling came in 1974, when he answered God's call to ministry.  He served as Associate Minister at Providence M.B. Church under the guidance of Rev. C.L. Goodwin, who ordained him in 1982.  Eddie later became Pastor of Greater Mount Calvary Baptist Church, faithfully serving for several years before returning to Providence, where he ministered alongside Pastor Robert Martin.


He leaves to cherish his memory; his daughter Betty Sykes; his son, Eddy Wilson, Ii; Eddy's mother, Rose, of Pontiac; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.


Celebration of Eddie's life will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at Providence Missionary Baptist Church 299 Bagley St. Pontiac, MI.  Family hour will begin at 10:00am and the service will immediately start at 10:30am.  After the service Internment will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery 4200 Belford Road, Holly, MI.
