Maryellen was my first girlfriend...we were 4 years old. She lived in Our Lady Of Angels parish in a duplex (on the second floor I believe) around the corner from me. We played together just about every day, dolls, or make-believe or looked at books. She would call for me at our backdoor "Oh Bonnie!" or vice versa "Oh Maryellen!" as kids never knocked or rang the bell, we just called-out. She had the curliest dishwater blonde hair and always took good care of her dolls and books and toys. (I think our mothers were both nurses and trusted each other with their kid). We ate lunch often at each other's home...Campbell's soup usually, but her mom made wonderful sandwiches and fruit!
She was my first broken heart when she moved away the next year. I sat on her front steps for days. Love you Maryellen Sheffield! Zimberlin. See ya up there! xo, Bonnie [Darryl- thank you for all your caretaking of that Cutie]

Our hearts are heavy and very sad learning the passing of our long time friend. I have known and loved Mary Ellen since 1961 meeting in our Freshman Year at St. Joseph Academy and working with her at St. John College in Cleveland. So many wonderful memories of all the great times we shared. Upon graduation my husband meet Mary Ellen and we shared many dates with Mary Ellen and his friend Doug. We moved many times over the course of the next years, but I was always in contact with Mary Ellen sharing all the new of her sons Paul, Sean and Chris and the love she had for them and the never ending love for each and every grandchild over the course of many years. We would talk on the phone frequently for hours sharing all the good and bad times. Her husband Darryl was the light of her life and we want to thank him for his care and love he gave her for 43 years. The dedication and love she had with her grandchildren was an inspiration. May she rest in the presence of Our Lord and the reunion she is sharing with her parents. We love you Mary Ellen and thank you for being a part of our lives, you will be missed, but never forgotten.
