Jane Cushing Obituary

Jane (Janie) Ellen Cushing, 77, of Upland, CA passed away on June 25. Born and raised in Colusa, CA, Janie attended Colusa High School where her mother was the Physical Education teacher. For her advanced studies, Janie attended Chico State College where she obtained a BS in Education, proudly donned the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority letters and met her husband of 56 years, Paul (Rusty) Cushing. After graduation, Janie and Rusty moved to Upland, CA where Janie began working for Carnelian Elementary School. Carnelian was the beginning of Janie's 32-year-long, fulfilling career in education teaching second and third graders. Post retirement, Janie enjoyed volunteering at the Lewis Family Playhouse and frequently visited the San Diego Zoo. She was a zoo club member, WWF donor and panda adorer. Janie and Rusty were longtime season ticket holders for the Anaheim Angels. The friends they made over the years in Section 520 will miss them greatly. Most of all, she enjoyed cheering from the stands at her grandchildren Chad and Mallory's many activities. Janie is preceded in death by her husband Rusty Cushing and her parents Francis and Frances White. Janie is survived by her son Paul (Joy) Cushing, grandchildren Chad and Mallory, brother Jim (Cynthia) White, sister Ann Hughes, sister-in-law Cheryl Stebor and nieces and nephews. The grave side burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery on July 31, 2025 at 10 am. The Cushing family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Janie's name to the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation at: al-phagammadeltafoundation.org/donate and/or the San Diego Zoo wildlife alliance at: give.sandiegozoo.org.

Janie was a good friend in high school and college. Her mom taught not only myself but also my mom and aunt. Rest in peace my friend.
