Jay Haese Obituary

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Jay Ray at the age of 101 as he passes peacefully from this Earth to his heavenly home. He was a great, loving and faithful man. His family surrounded him in love in his final days.

Jay was born the eldest of two sons in 1924 in Los Angeles, TX to Arthur and Martha Haese. He was a man much loved who lived a full adventurous life. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ollie Marie Haese, their daughter, Linda Marie White, and his brother, Roger Haese and sister-in-law, Evie Haese. He is survived by three sons, Calvin Haese, Barry Haese and his wife, Laura, and Bob Haese and his wife, Jackie, and son-in-law, Claude White. Jay has six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren and one niece and two nephews.

In 1943 he married Ollie and Calvin was born in 1944. At age 18 he was drafted by the army and fought in Europe in WWII. Upon return from fighting in Europe, he and Ollie moved to Harlingen, TX. where Ollie gave birth to twins, Bob and Barry and later Linda. He soon went to work in the oil field and did so until he retired. While working for Global Marine Drilling, he and Ollie had the great opportunity to travel and live in many places across the globe where they made many lifelong friends. He was involved in setting the first well head in the Gulf of Mexico in 1959. He later was the superintendent on the Glomar Explorer when they retrieved a Russian submarine in 18,000 feet of ocean depth. He later was promoted to rig manager and travelled to work and live in several other countries before retirement. His greatest joy was spending time with friends and family. Everyone was excited when he said he was making gumbo. He was well known for his gumbo and homemade barbeque sauce.
