Roberta Scully Obituary

Roberta Mae Scully (Chance), born September 19, 1944, daughter of Robert and Ardena (Pryor) Chance, went to be with the Lord peacefully in her home on Wednesday, July 9, 2025. Roberta was preceded in death by her parents and six siblings: Mildred "Rene" Harigle, Robert W. Chance, Barbara Chance, Ruthann Chance, and twin brothers David and Danny, who passed in infancy. On May 7, 1966, she married the love of her life, Frank Ralph Scully II, at St. Joseph Church in Crestline, Ohio, and he survives her in Crestline. This year, they joyfully celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. Together, they raised three children: Theresa (Bryan) Benedict, Tina Fuson, and Frank (Jill) Scully-all of Galion, Ohio. Roberta was a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren-Aaron Benedict, Kelsie Petrilli, Kristen Bright, Meagan Kelley, Courtney Fuson, Heather Scully, and Ashley Scully-and a great-grandmother to four: Bryson and Layla Benedict, Felicity Fuson, and James Kelley. During her life she worked alongside her sister Rene at Wire Assemblies in Bucyrus, Ohio, for over 20 years, retiring only when the business closed. In retirement, she continued to serve her community by working at the Crestline Rehabilitation and Nursing Center and by serving school lunches at St. Joseph School in Crestline. Roberta was a devoted member of the Moose Lodge for over 30 years, where she held several high-ranking positions. Her dedication was honored with her photograph enshrined on the wall of the Lodge. Together, Roberta and Frank were a team devoted to helping others. They volunteered for Meals on Wheels, delivering food and companionship throughout Crawford County. They also volunteered regularly at the Knights of Columbus Annual Chicken BBQ and served meals at their church, St. Joseph, during Lent. On weekends, they enjoyed setting up a table at local flea markets-not for profit, but for the joy of meeting people and discovering new restaurants, which became their favorite shared adventure. Known affectionately as "Mae" by Frank, Roberta had a lively, fun-loving spirit. She loved experimenting in the kitchen, often surprising her family with new recipes-even for traditional holiday meals. In her later years, she took up quilting, creating and donating pieces to local organizations and crafting personalized quilts for her children and grandchildren. Roberta was a devoted wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother. Though her memory may have faded in her final years, the love she gave and the legacy she leaves will never be forgotten Friends may call on Monday, July 14, 2025, from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at Gompf Funeral Service, Crestline Chapel, 223 West Main St., Crestline.
