Defiance - Lynn Edward Miller, age 81, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2025, in North Port, Florida. He was born on November 8, 1943, in Defiance, Ohio, to Donald and Glola Miller.
After high school, Lynn began working at General Motors until he retired in 2004. In 1966, he married Cheryl Buenger, and they remained married until she died in 2006. Shortly after retiring from General Motors, Lynn and Cheryl purchased a home in Florida, where he permanently resided for the last 18+ years. Lynn formed many close relationships with the other residents of his community, Harbor Isles, and around North Port, Florida. He loved to socialize and make friends. In Florida, he could be found driving his golf cart around with his dog, Coco, or joining friends at the Moose Lodge, the Harbor Isles Club House, or the Lock 'N Key Restaurant. Despite moving to the Sunshine State, he remained an ardent supporter of The Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Indians, and the Cleveland Browns.
While living in Defiance, Ohio, he was a member of the VFW, the Elks and Moose lodges, and St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He loved baseball and coached his son's baseball teams while they were children. He could often be found at his children's sporting events, the Elks/VFW playing cards, or at the mall attempting to disrupt his wife's shopping habits.
To cherish his memory, he is survived by his sons Jamie (Marlo) and Jason (Sharon). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Grant, Ryan, Madelynn, and Katelynn Miller. He also leaves his faithful companion, his dog, Coco.
In addition to his beloved wife, Cheryl, he was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Donald, Jerry, and Milo Miller.
The family would like to thank his caregiver(s), Dawn and Doug Barry, his friend Dean Schroeder, and his many friends for the excellent care and companionship they provided to Lynn over recent years.
A private service will be held on November 8th in Defiance, followed by a Celebration of Life. The Celebration of Life will occur at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in the Emmaus Hall (510 Jackson Avenue, Defiance, Ohio 43512), 12-2 p.m. on November 8 (Lynn's birthday).
