Jean Bargman Obituary
Jean Diane (Whitney) Bargman, 82, died at home Friday, July 18, 2025.
Jean was born Aug. 10, 1942, at home in Bloomfield, Neb. She was the daughter of Glen and Opal (Magdefrau) Whitney.
She attended Tewsville District School and graduated from Center High School in 1960. Jean continued her education at Northeast Community College for one year.
On Oct. 12, 1963, Jean married Ronald Bargman at First Trinity Lutheran Church. Together, they were blessed with seven children - Deborah, Barb, Dawn, Mark, Donald, Megan and Doug.
Jean lived in Bloomfield her entire life. She farmed and milked cows alongside Ron until his passing, after which she moved to town.
Jean lovingly provided daycare for several children, including Tahnee Reed and Darcy Kauth, along with caring for her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jean worked as a kitchen helper at Bloomfield Community Schools for 18 years, where she enjoyed seeing her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren daily, always greeting them with a smile and a wave as they passed through the lunch line.
She was an active member of First Trinity Lutheran Church, where she participated in Ladies Aid, served on the Communion Wine Committee, sang in the choir and volunteered with the Orphan Grain Train.
Jean was also involved in Bee Boosters and was a proud supporter of Bloomfield Bee athletics and school events. Her dedication was honored when she was named Bee Fan of the Year in 2012.
Jean is survived by her children - Deborah (Rod) Sonnichsen of Broken Bow, Barb (Joe) Wilson of Bloomfield, Dawn (Jason) Hefner of Bloomfield, Megan (Eric) Brott of Hickman, and Doug (Kaitlyn) Bargman of Lincoln; daughter-in-law Gayle (Jody) Mach of Bloomfield; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters - Donna (Dennis) Woods, Carol (Jon) Ermels, Shirley Burgardt, and Sharon (Randy) Prochaska; and sister-in-law Diane Smith.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband Ronald; sons Mark and Donald; grandson Andrew; granddaughter Ava; parents Glen and Opal Whitney; in-laws Earl and Anna Bargman; sister Janet Koenig; brother-in-law Roger Smith; and nieces Stacey Goeden and Carrie Pohfal.
Funeral services for Jean will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 24, at First Trinity Lutheran Church in Bloomfield. Reverend Lucas Miller will officiate, with burial in Bloomfield City Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 - 7 p.m. at the church.
Brockhaus Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
