Catherine M. Meisch-Smith, 67, of Belvidere, formerly of Sycamore, passed away peacefully at her home on June 24, 2025.
Born on June 14, 1958, in St. Charles, Illinois, Catherine was the daughter of the late William and Gloria (Regole) Meisch. She was a proud graduate of Sycamore High School and spent 26 years (1978-2014) working at Ideal Industries, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic.
On June 22, 2013, Catherine married Ronald G. Smith, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. She enjoyed camping, loved spending time in the kitchen cooking for those she loved, and found her greatest joy in being with her grandchildren.
Catherine is survived by her loving husband, Ronald G. Smith; her children, Stacey (Jason Hueber) Cardinali, Ryan (Kristin) Cardinali, and Justin Cardinali; her cherished grandchildren, Gracen and Liam Cardinali, Riley and Kahley Higham, and Annika and Reese Hueber; her brother, Bernie Meisch, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Gloria Meisch, and two brothers, Bill and Edward Meisch, and her best friend Joyce Winkowski.
Catherine will be remembered for her kind heart, delicious treats, sense of humor, and her unfiltered opinion, all of which brought joy, laughter, and a little extra spice to the lives of everyone who knew her.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 2, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Butala Funeral Home, 1405 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, IL. Burial will be private.
The family will determine a memorial fund at a later time to honor her memory.
