Jean Snider Obituary

Jean Mary (Chapman) Snider Moyock - Jean Mary Chapman Snider, age 84, of Moyock, NC, passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2025. Born in New Haven, CT on March 20, 1941, to the late Clifford Bishop Chapman and Mary Lynch Chapman, she was the wife of Denton Eugene Snider.

Jean was a cherished member of her community, known for her dedication and service. She devoted many years to shaping young minds as a school teacher, leaving a lasting impact on her students and colleagues. Beyond the classroom, Jean was an active participant in numerous organizations, including the GFWC Moyock Chapter, AAUW, League of Women Voters, and GLA. Her commitment to civic engagement and education was unwavering.

As a faithful member of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Jean sang in the church choir. Her volunteer work extended to Meals on Wheels, Friends of the Library, and the Currituck Nursing Center, where she offered her time and compassion to those in need. During election seasons, Jean could also be found working the polls.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Diane Jackson and Laura Rodriguez (John), all of Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren, Justin, Jacob, Jared, Tori, and Johnathan; and former son-in-law, John. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, David Bishop Chapman.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, officiated by Father Alex Rodriguez.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 154 Maple Road, Maple, NC 27956.
