Jimmie Brickhouse Obituary

Jimmie D Brickhouse, Sr. South Mills - Jimmie Daughtry Brickhouse, Sr., age 88, of South Mills, NC, died on October 12, 2025, at Sentara Albemarle Medical Center. He was born in Chesapeake, VA, on May 25, 1937, to the late William Brickhouse and Vera Allen Brickhouse, and was the widower of Mary Leigh McPherson Brickhouse who preceded him in death in 1996. A devoted husband, father, brother, and grandfather, he dedicated 33 years of his life to working as a truck operator for Texaco, Inc. until his retirement. He achieved the award of a 3-million-mile driver with no accidents. Jimmie was a past member of the Knobbs Creek Senior Citizen Club, where he formed lasting friendships and shared many fond memories.

He is survived by his daughter, Lynne Beedie and her husband, Gary, of South Mills, NC; four grandchildren, Laura Blanton (Josh), Matt Beedie (Joy), Jimmie D. Brickhouse III, and Danielle Brickhouse; four great-grandchildren, Harper Leigh, Edie Anne, Frannie Grace, and London; and his longtime friend, Mary Walton. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his son, Jimmie D. Brickhouse, Jr.; his sister, Helen Bess; and his two brothers, Jack Brickhouse and Thomas Brickhouse.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Memory Gardens Cemetery with Chaplain Kevin Reiver officiating. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Friday, October 17, 2025, from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m., at Twiford Memorial Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that you use the money you would have spent on them to take a loved one to dinner, cherishing the time together as Jimmie would have appreciated.
