James R. Smith

December 8, 1947 - July 11, 2025

Fort Worth, Texas - James Randall Smith, 77, passed away on 11th of July 2025 at Riverside Oxford Memory Care in Forth Worth, TX. He was born on December 8th, 1947 in Forth Worth, TX to Gay and Marguerite (Rainey) Smith.

James grew up in Forth Worth, TX. He graduated from Technical High School in Fort Worth, TX in 1966.

After high school he joined the army in 1966 and serviced for 3 years. He served in the Vietnam War. He was discharged in 1969, achieving the rank of Sergeant. He began working for the Fort Worth Police Department as a police officer where he worked for 28 years. He retired in 1999 after 28 years of service.

James married Cynthia in 1967 in Fort Worth, TX. They were happily married for 58 years. He enjoyed antique shopping/reselling. He also ranked Head of the ROTC drill team from 1965 to 1966, and achieved the rank of Lieutenant in the Forth Worth Police Department.

James was preceded in death by his parents Gay Randall and Marguerite (Rainey) Smith, and daughter, Amy Jean Smith.

James is survived by his spouse Cynthia Smith of Burleson, TX; son Dennis (Cori) Smith of Plano, TX; and his grandchildren Jessica Smith Knipping, River Smith, Ming Smith, and Daisy Smith.

A burial will be held at Emerald Hills Cemetery, 500 Kennedale Sublett Rd Kennedale, TX 76060 at 10 AM, August 16th.

"Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life" John 5:24.
