Gary Alvis Obituary

NETTLETON – Gary Lee Alvis Sr., 53, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013, at his home. He was born in Tupelo on Dec. 5, 1959, to Millard Lee and Shirley Jenkins Alvis. He was an electrician by trade and worked for several local companies including Sara Lee. He was a member of Living Waters. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping but his true enjoyement came from the time spent with his grandchildren.
Services will be at 12:30 p.m. today, Nov. 30, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Bro. Horace Barnes and Bro. Larry Monaghan officiating. A graveside will follow at Doty Chapel Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy Alvis of Nettleton; his two children, Gary Alvis Jr. (Rachel) of Oklahoma and Tesheenia Holte (Chris) of Mooreville; six stepchildren, Chad Witcher (Kristi), Terry Witcher and Timothy Witcher, all of Nettleton, Audi Wilson (Jeremy) of Tupelo, Trey Dent (Brittany) of Nettleton and Robin Inmon of New Albany; one brother, Robert Alvis (Kathy) of Nettleton; six grandchildren, Gracie ""LouLou,"" Chezney ""FooFoo,"" Chelsey ""Tinkerbell,"" Brookelyn ""Brookie,"" Destiny and Adam; and his mother, Shirley Alvis of Nettleton.
He was preceded in death by his father, Millard Alvis.
Pallbearers will be Darus Bynum, David Hurley, Trey Dent, Bobby Alvis, Johnny Baker and Brandon Bynum.
