Marlene Olson Obituary

Marlene Jean Olson, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025, in Kronenwetter, Wisconsin, after bravely battling dementia for close to five years. She was born on June 15, 1952, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and graduated from Frederic High School in 1970. Marlene's caring and outgoing nature touched the lives of everyone she met.

Marlene's career began as a telephone operator and encompassed numerous roles that showcased her dedication and love for others. From 1976 to 1980, she embraced her position as a telephone operator until thr company went digital, when she became a cherished babysitter for many children in the community. In 1985, she joined Olson & Son Drug as a clerk, where she served with unwavering commitment until her retirement in 2006. Marlene also brought joy to countless people as a waitress at the 300 Club, serving at weddings and special events, forever leaving a mark on the lives she encountered during those years.

After her retirement, Marlene enjoyed wintering in Texas from 2006 until 2022, where she delighted in playing bingo and enjoying the warm sun down by the pool. Her love for gardening, crocheting, spending time camping and suntanning reflected her zest for life. A favorite pastime included daily walks and delightful breakfasts at the Tin Shed, where she would gather with friends and loved ones.

Marlene was deeply loved by her family. She is survived by her dedicated husband, Butch Olson; her daughter, Melissa Sealander of Weston, WI; her sons, Toby (Corrie) Olson of Tennessee, and Robert (June) Olson of Alabama, her cherished grandchildren, Tristan, Cailyn, Edward, and Joshua (Ciera). Marlene also celebrated life with her great-grandchildren, Marvin, Raegan & Baby Sealander. She will be missed immensely by her sisters: Janice (James) Woodmansee of Utah, Karen Java of Milwaukee and Jennifer (Martin) Scanlon of Frederic, along with her sisters-in-law, Kaye (Jerry) Smart of Park Falls and Pat (Ray) Gullickson of Minnesota. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, lots of relatives and friends.

Though her parents have preceded her in death, Marlene's legacy of love, kindness, and deep connection with those around her will continue to shine brightly through her family and friends. Her joy, laughter, and spirit will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege to know her.

Marlene's family would like to express their many thanks to the staff at Primrose Retirement & Memory Care and Cedar Creek Manor for loving and caring for her even when the disease showed the worst of her.

A memorial service celebrating Marlene's life will be held on October 25, 2025, at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 507 Wisconsin Ave N, in Frederic, Wisconsin, starting at 11:00 a.m. with Rev.
