DeLayne Swanson Obituary
DeLayne Sharon Carlson was born April 6, 1950 in Rush City, Minnesota to Alrik and Lucille Carlson. She was the fourth of five children. She attended Rush City Schools and was crowned Homecoming Queen her senior year.
On August 16, 1969, DeDe married her high school sweetheart, Larry Swanson, and together they had two daughters, Rhonda and Kristi.
She started working at the First State Bank of Rush City the day after high school graduation. In 2015, she retired from Frandsen Bank and Trust after a total of 47 years in the banking business.
DeDe most loved spending time with her family and friends. Throughout her life she enjoyed bowling, traveling, volunteering for the Rush City Eagles Auxiliary, volunteering at church, and most recently playing mahjongg on Monday mornings.
DeDe leaves behind her two daughters Rhonda (Skip) Scheffer-Domino of Rush City, Kristi (Jeff) Pfeffer of Isanti; three grandchildren Brittany (Jared) Christensen, Chris (Tomi) Scheffer, Alex (Kenadi) Scheffer; four great-grandchildren Karson and Kade Scheffer, Lettie and Logan Christensen; sister Darlene Rolfer of Arden Hills; sister-in-law Shirley Carlson of Cambridge; brother-in-law Bob Gray of Cologne; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Alrik and Lucille Carlson; husband Larry Swanson; siblings Denny Carlson, Diane Gray, Butch Carlson; son-in-law Gordy Scheffer; and her special dog, Rascal.
Pastor Manda Truchinski will officiate funeral services for DeDe at 11:00 AM, Friday, May 16, 2025 with time of visitation one hour prior to the service all at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Rush City. The interment will take place in the First Lutheran Cemetery. A fellowship luncheon will follow the interment back at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Rush City.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Funeral and Cremation Service of Rush City, Olson Chapel.
