Grace C. Huber (nee Cunningham) passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on April 11, 2025 at the age of 98. She was predeceased by her parents, Grace and Reed Cunningham, her beloved and devoted husband George Huber, her sister Dorothy Cunningham, and her stepdaughter Ruth Huber. A wife, mother, and grandmother, medical researcher, 3rd grade teacher, and activist, she lived her life with a joie de vivre, and was always young at heart. She delighted in her world travels, immensely enjoyed her family, friendships, the arts, shopping, reading, stimulating conversation about anything, and had a delightful sense of humor. Born on February 14, 1927, in New York City, Grace was the oldest of 2 daughters born to Grace (nee Faupel) and Reed Cunningham. At the age of 4, she and her parents moved from New York to Baltimore due to the Depression, where she was raised with her younger sister Dorothy in the Huntington Ridge neighborhood. She graduated from Western High School in 1944. She was accepted to Goucher College, where she was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority, and graduated in 1948 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physiology. Grace moved to Washington, D.C., where she pursued a career in medical research. In 1952, Grace met and married her first husband of 16 years, a USAF Lieutenant Colonel, fighter pilot David G. Roberts II. They raised 4 children together in Catonsville. Grace was a 3rd grade school teacher for 8 years. After divorcing, Grace returned to medical research at Wyman Park Cancer Center. Grace later became the Project Director at Citizen Action Coalition, where she actively lobbied for healthcare initiatives for seniors in Maryland. She was also an active board member of Marylanders Against Handgun Abuse, MAHA. In 1990, after many years of being single, Grace met and married her late husband, George Huber, with whom she enjoyed a wonderful, long marriage of 23 years. They blended their families, and Grace finally had the large family she always wanted. They travelled extensively throughout the United States and abroad to Africa, India, Tibet, Thailand, and Ireland. In addition to travel, they enjoyed time with their large combined family of kids and grandkids, the theater, music, and art. Grace was blessed with a large, loving family, dear friends and a long fulfilling life of adventure and good health. Even in her advanced years, when illness and age slowed her down only slightly, she remained devoted to all of her interests and kept her sense of humor right to the end. She is survived by her 3 sons, David G. Roberts, MD of Towson (Beatriz), Richard Bruce Roberts of Baltimore, John S Roberts of Washington D.C.,a daughter Susan R Bingham (Rick) of Westminster, 6 step children Kathy, Louise, Joan, Mary Claire, Carol and Andy, 24 grandchildren, including 18 step-grands, 19 great-step grands and 9 dear longtime friends.
