Dana Spradlin Obituary

Dana K. Spradlin, 72, of Port Lavaca, TX, accomplished his worldly adventures on Saturday, August 2, 2025. He was born on December 14, 1952, in Clovis, NM to Margurette and Raymond Spradlin. He went to school in Clovis, NM, and graduated high school in 1970. He continued his education and later earned his associate's degree from Clovis Community College.
Dana married the love of his life and best friend, Tamara Ann Ortiz, on June 19, 1976. He measured his success by the lives of his children and grandchildren. He loved a good cup of coffee with friends and a lively conversation. Dana enjoyed having his grandchildren around and teaching them to play intellectual games. He enjoyed being a pilot, riding his motorcycle, nature and fishing.
Above all he enjoyed sharing his knowledge and love for God. Dana knew no strangers and everyone he met left with thoughtful biblical words to live by. Dana was a serious follower of Christ whose faith was the cornerstone of his life. He lived a life well-grounded in unwavering truth. A passionate student of scripture, and of living scripture, especially the book of proverbs. Dana's love for truth was evident in every aspect of his life, guiding his journey towards the Promised Land. He approached life with a rock-solid faith that shaped his views and actions, believing that truth was essential for spiritual fulfillment and growth. Dana was deeply saddened by dishonesty and deception, feeling empathy for those ensnared by lies. His heartfelt desire was for others to know the transformative power of Christ's love and experience salvation. To be loved by Dana was to be loved by Christ.
His legacy is one of hope, purpose, and a profound connection to God, serving as a shining example for all who knew him, inspiring them to seek the love of truth and embrace the abundant life meant for them in the Promised Land.
Dana was preceded in death by his mother, Margurette Spradlin, his brother George Spradlin, and his brother, Don Spradlin. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Tamara Ann Spradlin, his two children Danak Spradlin (Michelle), and Cambree Gilbert (Jake). His seven grandchildren Katelyn Spradlin, Wade Spradlin, Megan Spradlin, Anthony Gilbert, Abraham Gilbert, Bree Gilbert, and Bella Gilbert. He is also survived by his sister Mary Spradlin, and numerous nieces and nephews.
