Born and raised in Oswego, NY, Michael Anthony Canale passed away peacefully on October 16, 2025, at Crouse Hospital ICU, one month shy of his 66th birthday, after a courageous six-week battle with lung cancer. He was also known as “Mike,” “Mikey,” “Ballsy,” “Uncle Mike,” “Grandpa,” “Mikey down the middle” and “Dad” by his family members and many friends
He was the son of Helen White and Raymond Canale, who preceded him in death, along with his brothers John, Ray, and Pat Canale. He was also predeceased by his pets, Dean and Lemon.
Mike spent 30 years working at Eagle Beverage, a job he truly loved and excelled at, until a back injury led him to retire. He was known for his strong work ethic, quick wit, and the friendships he built along the way.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 37 years, Tammy Canale; his daughter, Alicia (Harrison) Dykes; his son, Robert (Taylor) Canale; and his four beloved grandchildren—Brewer, Nora, Owen, and Ella—who brought endless joy and laughter to his days; and his sidekick, his dog Sam.
Although his illness came on suddenly, Mike faced it with remarkable strength and courage, surrounded by his family who loved him deeply.
A true sports enthusiast, Mike could always be found cheering on Syracuse, the L.A. Dodgers, and the L.A. Rams. When he wasn’t with his family, he was often on the golf course—his happy place.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Guenter, the Oswego ICU staff, and the nurses and doctors at Crouse Hospital for their care and compassion.
In keeping with Mike’s wishes, there will be no formal services. Instead, his life will be celebrated at a golf tournament memorial on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at Evergreen Hills Golf Course—the place he loved most.
“Longer than any tree ever grew, we will keep on loving you.”
Arrangements are in the care of the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, Oswego.

Our deepest condolences Tammy to you and your family. Mikey was a great friend to Dan with many years of softball and basketball with him and tracker. It's hard to believe and so unfair that he's gone. Sending hugs and strength to you. Unable to make the tournament but here for you if you need anything. With heartfelt sympathy, Dan and Sharon

Mike, I don’t even know what to say. My heart is broken. You were such an incredible friend and one of the most genuine people I’ve ever known. I’ll cherish every memory every smile, every laugh, every Sunday scramble. You’ll always have a place in my heart, my friend.

I played many years of Baseball/ Softball with Mike, he was a true all-star!! A pleasant person to know. I worked with his wife, Tammy, and remember when they started together. Thoughts are with everyone at this time.
