Rosemary Bukkila Obituary

Rosemary Angeline Bukkila (Tauzell) died peacefully at her home in Savage, MN on Sunday June 15, 2025. She was 95 years old.
Rosemary, known by her family and friends as "Dolly," was born on February 28, 1930, in Ely, MN. She was the daughter of Ivan and Mary Tauzell (Pechek). Rosemary was an exemplary student and she graduated from Ely Memorial High School as Valedictorian of her class in 1948. She attended Ely Community College for two years and then moved to Minneapolis to attend the University of MN School of Nursing, from which she graduated in March 1953.
Rosemary met her future husband, Raymond, on a blind date and they were married in the Cana Chapel of St. Paul Cathedral on November 28, 1953. Rosemary and Ray lived with Ray's mother, Emma Saari Bukkila, in St. Paul while Rosemary worked at the University of MN Hospital and Ray worked as a mechanic for Northwest Airlines. They moved to their lifelong home in Savage, MN during the summer of 1956.
Rosemary was an active mother of five and a devoted Cub Scout leader before returning to nursing in approx. 1969. She spent the next 26 years as an RN at St. Francis Hospital in Shakopee, MN.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; her parents; her grandchildren, Cody and Kimberly Vickstrom; a sister, Mary Jane, in infancy; her brother, John Tauzell, his wife Peggy, and their son Johnny; and her two sons-in-law, Dave Huberg and Dane Vickstrom.
She is survived by her children, John (Savage), Laura Randall (Alexandria, VA), Steve and Joan (Savage), Lisa Vickstrom (St. Louis Park), and Mary Huberg (Mpls); grandsons, Cory, Drew, and Jay Bukkila; granddaughter, Jenna Huberg; great-granddaughter, Elanor Huberg; sister, Joanne (Dick) Vipavetz; brother, Anthony (Amy) Tauzell; and many nieces and nephews.
As a child, Rosemary spent carefree, happy summers at her parents' cabin on White Iron Lake. As an adult, she looked forward to summer vacations with Ray and their children at their log cabin, which was next door to her childhood cabin. To Dolly, an afternoon picking blueberries, a long swim in cool water, the scent of pine in the air, and family gathered around a campfire made for a perfect day.
