Mr. Joe Taylor, Jr., 79, of Paris died Sunday, February 4, 2024, The VA Medical Center in Nashville.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Progressive Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
Joe Taylor Jr. was born on November 28, 1944, in Paris, TN to the late Joe Taylor Sr. and Mae Vanderleen Crutchfield Taylor.
He was a member of Barrs Chapel CME Church Joe accepted Christ at an early age. He was a member of Barrs Chapel CME Church in Como, TN. He was educated in the Henry County School System. After serving in the U.S. Army, he was employed by Emerson Electric and later the City of Paris. On July 12, 2012, he married Marjorie Delores Lewis. She preceded him in death on February 9, 2016.
He leaves to cherish his memory his son; Kivian (Sunnah) Taylor of Logansville, GA additional children; Michelle Lewis, Fred Lewis of Paris, TN, Curtis Lewis of Clarksville, TN, Mary Floyd of Lexington, KY, Joyce Ray of San Antonio, Texas, Margie Britt of Paris, TN, Gary Mayo, Diane McClure, Randall (Gayle) Mayo all of Chicago, IL, James Mayo of Nashville, TN, and a host of cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sisters; Fannie Mae Taylor, June Dair Diggs, brothers; Joe Dudley Wilkins, Walter Thomas Crutchfield, Archille Mayo and Dennis Mayo.
