Rebecca Clough Obituary

Rebecca Gayle (Nunley) Clough, passed away peacefully July 10, 2025, a beloved wife, mother, and dedicated educator. Born April 26, 1946, in Henderson, Kentucky, Rebecca was the cherished daughter of W.C. and Marie Nunley, who preceded her in death. Rebecca's life was marked by unwavering dedication to service and community. Her career spanned diverse roles, each reflecting her compassion and commitment to enriching the lives of others. She served with the Girl Scouts, empowering young women with guidance and care. Her deep empathy also led her to social work at the Grant County Department of Family Services in Indiana, where she advocated tirelessly for families in need. A woman of creativity and warmth, Rebecca expressed her artistic talents as a florist, bringing beauty and joy through her arrangements. However, her passion for nurturing young minds found its fullest expression in elementary education. She impacted countless lives first as an early elementary teacher, then as a devoted elementary school principal, always encouraging students to reach their full potential. Rebecca was deeply devoted to her faith and volunteered actively at various churches throughout her life, most notably at The Chapel in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where she was a founding member. Rebecca is survived by her loving husband, Mark Lowell Clough of Fort Wayne, Indiana; her daughter, Lara Suzanne Welch (nee Clough), her husband Zachary, and their children Grayson and Carrington; and her son, William Ryan Clough, his wife Ashley, and their children Garrett and Beau. Her legacy of love, education, faith, and community service will live on through her family and the many lives she touched. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews along with their children. She will be profoundly missed by all who knew her. The funeral service is 11:00 am, Saturday, July 19, 2025 at The Chapel, 2505 W. Hamilton Rd. S., with calling one hour prior. Calling also 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Friday, July 18, 2025 at The Chapel. Burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Memorials in her honor, may be made to The Chapel or Coventry Meadows. To sign the online guestbook, go to www.fairhavenfortwayne.com
