Louis E. Fantin, age 78, of New Philadelphia, passed away peacefully in Park Village Healthcare Southside on Friday, September 12, 2025.
Born September 21, 1946, in Roswell, Ohio, Louie was the son of the late John Frank and Emma Louise (Visintainer) Fantin. He was a 1964 graduate of Midvale High School. On April 22, 1972, he married the love of his life, Ruth Ann Antonelli. Together they have enjoyed 53 years of marriage.
Louie began working for Marlite, Inc. prior to starting a career working in construction for over 30 years, retiring as a Union Local Construction worker. A lifelong hunter and fisherman, he found peace in the woods and on the water. He coached both of his sons in baseball, and after they finished playing, he continued coaching as an assistant for Tuscarawas Central Catholic High School and served as an umpire for area Pony League and high school games for many years. In his later years, he loved supporting his grandsons in all their sporting activities, continuing to hunt and fish with his son Tony, and watching his son Tom play guitar at various local live music venues. He was also an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
He will be deeply missed by his wife, Ruth Fantin; children, Tony (April Herrington) Fantin of New Philadelphia, and Tom (Lori) Fantin of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, Austin (Rachel) Fantin of North Canton, Cameron Fantin, and Lucas Fantin, both of New Philadelphia; sister, Norma Fantin of New Philadelphia; sisters-in-law, Shelby Fantin and Carole Fantine; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Louie was preceded in death by his twin brother, Danny; sister, Louise (Wishard) Patrick; brothers, Frank (Fran), Victor (Mary Louise), Jack (Carol) Fantine, and John Fantin; and brother-in-law Alex (Ruth) Antonelli.
