Earlene Jones Obituary

Earlene M. Jones, 97, of Keosauqua, and formerly of Fort Madison, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at the Keosauqua Health Care Center.

She was born on Nov. 30, 1927 in Fort Madison to Earl and Catherine Freeman Owens. On July 18, 1948 she married Leon Jones in Fort Madison. He preceded her in death on Nov. 13, 2015. Earlene worked at Sheaffer Pen Company with 25 years of service and was a member of Community of Christ Church. She enjoyed computing, taking bus trips, playing the organ at her church and she was an avid reader.

Survivors include one son, Ronald Jones of Kansas City, Kan.; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews including, Sharon Carr of Keosauqua. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Katherine Bannon, one brother, Lyle Owens and one sister, Ruby Lottie Owens Beatty.

Per her wishes, cremation has been entrusted to King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. A graveside service will be on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at 10 a.m. at Oakland Cemetery with Pastor Steve DePriest officiating.
