Donald L. Buseman

June 30, 1944 - April 26, 2025

Donald "Don" Buseman, 80, of Rockford, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the Rockwell Community Nursing Home.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at First United Methodist Church in Rockford with Pastor Chan Kim officiating. Inurnment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Rockford.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 2, 2025, at First United Methodist Church in Rockford and continue one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Donald Lee Buseman, the son of Everett and Carrie Ann (Lamfers) Buseman, was born on June 30, 1944, in Belmond, Iowa. He graduated from Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock High School in 1962. After high school, he was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War and stationed in Germany. On May 31, 1969, Don was united in marriage to Jean Pitkin at St. Charles United Methodist Church in rural Charles City.

Don was a lifelong, hardworking farmer. He was a passionate FFA member, President of the board for Rockford Farmer Coop Exchange, and held township offices for Owen Township. He was a member of First United Methodist Church for 50 years and a church trustee. Don enjoyed woodworking and created many cars and clocks. He also enjoyed attending dirt track racing. Don and Jean took missionary trips to Mexico and many bus trips all over the United States.

Living family members include his wife of nearly 56 years, Jean; son, Jon (Jeanelle) Buseman; daughter, Sandra (Paul) Galuska; five grandchildren: Garrett & Ella Hanson, Maggie Buseman, and Keira & Resse Udelhofen; sister, Edna Zieman; brother, Ron Buseman; along with many nieces, nephews, and other loving family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carrie Trulson; and brothers, Robert and John.

Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home, Charles City, Iowa is in charge of local arrangements.

I remember Don from high school. He was a good friend. I also was drafted into the army during the Vietnam war and also was stationed in Germany. We never crossed paths after high school but so wish that we had.
