Cheryl K. Dooley Strowmatt
Worden - Cheryl K. Dooley Strowmatt, 81, of Worden, IL, passed away at her residence with her children by her side on Friday, July 4, 2025. Born December 7, 1943 in Highland, IL, she was a daughter of the late Mr. Chester Dooley & Mrs. Clara (Johnny) Krechnyak.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Gary R. Strowmatt. She worked as a caterer for many years. She enjoyed riding in cars & spending time with her grandchildren. "If you think you love your children, wait until you have grandchildren." - Cheryl Strowmatt.
She is survived by five children, Michelle "Shelly" Burcham of Worden, IL, Minette "Mindy" Redman of Staunton, IL, Angela "Angie Girl" Hydron of Worden, IL, John "Jaybird" (Lillie) Schwarz of Senoia, GA, and Nicole "Nikki Jo" (Eric) Fields of Glen Carbon, IL; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles (Millie) Dittes of Keller, TX, and Dwight (Linda) Dooley of Sarasota, FL; one sister, Jolene "Jody" (Mark) Robbs of Worden, IL, along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews including two nephews, Denny and Jeffrey Dooley, whom she took under her wing for her late brother, Dennis Dooley.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, David Gears; her great grandson, Nolan Gears; and her brother, Dennis Dooley.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton, IL. A Memorial Service will follow at 12 noon at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton, IL, with Rich Kotras officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Dementia Society of America in memory of Cheryl K. Strowmatt at www.dementiasociety.org/donate or you may donate in memory of Cheryl K.
