Brian Schaar Obituary

Brian Edward Schaar

Brian Edward Schaar, 58, of Squaw Lake, MN passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 12th, 2025, in Blackduck, MN, with his two favorite boys, Turbo and Torque by his side.

He was born July 18th, 1966, in Minneapolis, MN and was the beloved son of Thomas Schaar, Bigfork MN and Gwen "Olson" Black of Deer River, MN. He grew up in Deer River, MN where he graduated from Deer River High School in 1985. Soon after, he moved to the cities, but his heart was still in Northern Minnesota. He moved back in the Spring of 1994 and found the love of his life, Tracy. A short time later came the second love of his life, his daughter Bree, who he absolutely adored. Tracy and Brian married August 31st, 1996, and made Squaw Lake their forever home. He was a proud member of the Squaw Lake community and served as a volunteer firefighter for SLFD for 12 years. He also served on the city council and recently became the mayor of Squaw Lake. He was known to many as "Sheriff Schaar." Over the years, he worked at Rajala Mill, ASV, Magnetation, and most recently Rudnicki Tractor Ranch. He also took care of multiple duck camps in the area. It never felt like work to him because of his passion for duck hunting.

He was the most loving and caring, one-of-a-kind person that would do anything for you, even if you didn't ask for help. Brian had many things he was passionate about. First and foremost was his family. He loved life, hunting, fishing, old cars, crafting liquors and people.

He embraced life with fullness and joy led by his compassionate heart that left a lasting impact on everyone he met. His love for family and friends was his whole heart and soul.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert "Bob" and Bernice Schaar and Francis "Sonny" and Grace Olson; uncles, Wayne and Larry Schaar and James Olson; aunts, Dolly Olson and Sandra Schaar; sister-in-law, Stacy Peck-Skamser; and cousin, Heidi Christiansen.

Brian is forever loved and will be missed by his loving wife, Tracy; his daughter, Bree and soon to be son-in- law, Jacob "Taco" Shannon; his parents, Tom (Donna) Schaar and Gwen Black; his mother and father- in-law, Frank and Diana Mistic; his brothers, Rob (Barbara) Schaar, Mark Peck, and Mike (Patti) Peck; his sisters, Gina (Jason) Vickerman and Melanie (Jon) Allison; his sisters-in-law, Brigitte (Michael) Leino and Lisa (Greg) Sorheim; his nieces, Alexandra (Ian) Streitz, Sydnie (Wesley) Cavegn, Shelby Sorheim, and Kennedi Leino; nephews, Brett Schaar, Brandon (Alexa) Schaar, Ty (Morgan) Vickerman, and Brock Leino; great nieces, Paysen and Livia Vickerman, Forrest Schaar and Winslow Cavegn; great nephews, Tate Vickerman and Wixon Schaar; and also dear friends, Petey and countless others.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025 from 1:00 2:00 p.m. at the Squaw Lake Community Center, 51272 State Highway 46, Squaw Lake, MN with a sharing of memories at 2:00 p.m. A luncheon will follow the celebration of his life at the center.
