Joann Trombino Obituary

Joann Mae Trombino

January 12, 1941 - August 5, 2025

Palmetto Bay, Florida - Joann Trombino

Joann Mae (Buchholtz) Trombino, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family in Palmetto Bay, Florida, on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at the age of 84.

Born on January 12, 1941, in Bowler, Wisconsin, Joann was the cherished daughter of Esther Steinberg Buchholtz and Walter Buchholtz. She spent her formative years in Shawano, Wisconsin, where she was raised by her father (her mother deceased when Joann was 1 ¼ years old) alongside her three brothers (Carl, Jim and Jerry). Joann's early life was marked by resilience, warmth, and a deep sense of family-values she carried with her throughout her life.

A bright and determined student, Joann earned a scholarship to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, where she studied business and met the love of her life, Roger Trombino. They married on November 18, 1961, beginning a beautiful partnership that spanned nearly 64 years, defined by unwavering love, mutual respect, and shared values.

In 1973, Joann and Roger moved their family to Miami, Florida, where Joann flourished both personally and professionally. She became an accomplished A-level tennis player, launched a successful interior decorating business, and dedicated herself to community service. Her leadership and generosity touched many lives through her involvement in organizations such as:

•The Villagers - Head of Scholarships, supporting the preservation of historic sites

•The Cotillion Club - President and Board Member

•Beach Colony - Board of Directors

•Riviera Country Club - Social Committee Member

Joann's commitment to lifelong learning led her to return to college at age 40. In 1991, she graduated with honors from Florida International University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Marketing. Her academic excellence earned her a nomination for Marketing Student of the Year-a recognition she humbly declined, choosing instead to pass the honor to a fellow student whose future might be transformed by the honor. This act of selflessness was emblematic of Joann's generous spirit.

Joann lived with grace, kindness, and a deep appreciation for the richness of life. Her love for family and friends was constant and profound, and her legacy lives on in the hearts of those she touched. She is survived by her devoted husband, Roger; her daughters, Tracey and Suzanne (Jim Wallace), her brother Jim Buchholtz, and many loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Steven Trombino,

A memorial service will be held at Saint Louis Catholic Church, located at 7270 SW 120th Street, Pinecrest, FL 33156, on Friday, August 8, 2025 at 11 a.m. A reception will follow at Saint Louis Catholic Church Family Center.

I had known Joann for many years, starting with her helping me pick out furniture for my first home In Palmetto Bay. We also were fellow members of The Villagers, where Joann had been active for many years. I remember her daughter Tracey babysitting my own two daughters when they were young.
My sincere condolences to the entire Trombino family in the loss of their wife and mother.
