Richard Alterman Obituary

Richard Charles Alterman

June 6, 1944 - December 25, 2024

Miami, Florida - Richard Alterman, born in Miami, Florida on historic D-Day, June 6, 1944 and died in Miami Christmas Day 2024.

He was a Renaissance man in an age of growing darkness. His flame was always bright, and he brought others into his light.

Rick accomplished much.

His biggest accomplishment was raising his daughter Abbie. He adored his grandchildren Henry Charles and Sydney Rose.

Aided by a powerful mix of curiosity and tenacity, Rick earned a PhD from the University of Michigan. He taught education students at universities. Even though he never swung a hammer, he learned the skills to build a house by himself on an Aspen mountain-side. He operated his family's nationwide trucking company. He traveled the world. He learned to play the guitar. He made fine wooden furniture.

He learned things, he made things, he shared things, and when he met an obstacle, he slowed down, but never stopped. He is loved by many.

He will be missed. The family requests donations in his memory be made to the The Parkinson's Foundation.
