Muriel Kagan Zager, a trailblazing journalist and beloved mother, passed away on July 28, 2025, in Bristol, Tennessee, at the age of 91.
Born on August 17, 1933, in Brooklyn, New York, Muriel pursued a life rich in intellect, adventure, and storytelling. She earned her master's degree and went on to build a distinguished career as a Middle East correspondent. Her insightful reporting brought clarity to complex global issues and earned her the respect of readers and colleagues alike.
Muriel was a longtime writer for the Abington Tribune and Bristol Herald Courier, where her voice became a trusted source of Middle East news and perspective. In addition to her journalism work, she authored several mystery novels.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Muriel was known for her zest for life. She loved traveling all over the world and continued to do so well into her nineties. Her charming and outgoing personality left an impression wherever she went. With a quick wit and infectious laughter, she had a gift for making people smile.
Muriel is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Dr. Lynne Zager and Susan Zager. She was predeceased by her husband Victor and son David.
A funeral service will be held at Congregation Micah Cemetery in Nashville, Tennessee, on August 1, 2025.
Muriel Kagan Zager's legacy lives on through her words, her family, and the countless lives she touched through both her work and warmth. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her.
