Jeanette Lovell Obituary

Jeanette March 30, 1932 - (Wagner) Lovell Jeanette was born in Osakis, MN on March 30, 1932. The second daughter of Bernard and Louise (Rutten) Wagner. She was raised in rural MN and graduated from Alexandria High School in 1949. She was employed in St. Paul MN at the State Game and Fishery Department for three years and then decided, along with three friends, to work at Yellowstone National Park for a season. When the season ended in the fall, she went to Seattle, WA to visit relatives and found a job at the Boeing Company, where she stayed.
Jeanette met her husband Don in 1954 and were married the following year in MN. Together they raised three children. Jeanette was a stay-at-home Mom until the children were grown In 1974, she returned to work at Shoreline Community College in the Business Office and continued there for 25 years until retirement in 1999.
In 1979, Don and Jeanette designed and built a waterfront home on Whidbey Island and it was used as a summer home for 27 years. They enjoyed inviting friends and relatives to the beach home to celebrate and party. The Grandchildren especially loved coming to the beach where they spent time beachcombing, crabbing, fishing with Grandpa, and beach bon fires. The 4th of July was always a favorite for setting off their own fireworks.
Don and Jeanette enjoyed travel to many parts of the world, including Europe, Japan, the UK, Caribbean, South America, Alaska, Hawaii, and all through the United States. After their first Alaskan cruise, they determined cruising to be their favorite mode of travel.
After retirement, Don and Jeanette had a home built in Surprise, AZ and lived there six months out of the year while enjoying many of the activities provided by resort community living. While not in AZ, they built another home in Monroe, WA where they resided for 20 years.
In her leisure time, she enjoyed traveling, gardening, reading, dancing, and playing all kinds of card games. She enjoyed all genres of music but was partial to country. A lover of life!
Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband Don in 2019 after more than 64 years of marriage, her parents, her brother Harold, and sister Donna Anderson.
Jeanette is survived by her daughters; Patricia (Stuart) Barrett of Queen Creek AZ, Cynthia (Michael) Ellinger of Monroe, WA and son; Steven (Carol) Lovell of Edmonds, WA and nine grandchildren; Kari, Nick, Krista, Kailyn, Karlee, Curtis, Angela, Grant, and Brenton and 17 great grandchildren who have been an added blessing, along with numerous nieces and nephews. All of which she dearly loved.
She will be remembered as an independent, determined, and feisty Mom who loved her faith, family, and friends immensely.
A Funeral Mass honoring Jeanette's life will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2025 at 11AM at St. Mary of the Valley Catholic Church, 601 W Columbia St, Monroe, WA 98272.
