This photo is the way Ken Bigler will always be remembered. With that ever ready smile, those twinkling baby blues, and that infectious laugh, not pictured. Have known Ken my entire life. From the early years at Loyal Heights playfield in Ballard, playing baseball and basketball, to our years attending Ballard High, to joining the Marine Corps together, and finally our adult lives. Going on dinner dates with our wives, Vera and Elin, attending car shows, day trips. We've had many wonderful memories. Ken enjoyed talking about his Huskies. Believe purple and gold were his favorite colors. And the Mariners with this years World Series run, would have been the main topic for discussion. Ken was very competitive throughout his life. He liked winning. And to prove this point, one former classmate, Mariann Larson, who attended Loyal Heights Elementary with Ken, said upon hearing of his passing, "Ken was the only boy in school who could not only outrun me, and when we played dodgeball in the school gym, Ken not only caught the ball every time, but when he threw it back it really stung."
His competitiveness was contagious. It carried down in life through Erika and her two daughters. They are just like Dad and Grandpa.
Ken may be gone, but the memories we have to hold and cherish will live on forever!
