Florence C. Perdue, 91, Rochester, passed away at 9:27 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2021, at her residence.
She was born on July 11, 1930, in East Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Atly and Lillie (Arnold) Cencion and graduated from Akron High School, Akron, in 1948. On Aug.6, 1948, in Akron, she married Thomas "Sonny" D. Perdue Jr. He preceded her in death on Aug. 2, 2011.
Florence retired from Hart, Schaffner and Marx after 33 years as a quality supervisor manager. She had been an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Rebekah's Lodge for more than 50 years where she held offices at the local, district and state levels, American Legion Auxiliary and Eagles Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing the piano, was an avid reader, enjoyed collecting bells, loved to dance and was an adventurous traveler.
Survivors include her sons, Thomas D. (Sarah) Perdue III, Palm Springs, Calif., Michael (Peggy) Perdue, Rochester, and Melvin Perdue, Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, Dr. Adrienne Perdue (Wayne) Fortner, Riverview, Fla., Thomas S. (Yesenid) Perdue, Haslet, Texas, Jason A. Perdue, Los Angeles, Calif., Christy Perdue, Rochester, David (Jordan) Perdue, Rochester, Tim (Rachael) Perdue, Chatam, Ill., Jessica Perdue (Jason) Lee, Dawson, Ill; numerous great-grandchildren; and sister, Joyce Perdue, Rochester.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Royal Cencion in 2010, and brother-in-law, Dean L. Perdue.
Funeral services, along with a Rebekah Lodge service, will be conducted at noon Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021, at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester. Friends may visit from 10 a.m.-noon Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Rochester.
