Lora Breese Obituary
On March 6, 2025, our big-haired, fun-loving prankster daughter, sister, wife, and mother was unexpectedly brought home by her Heavenly Father. She was 61. Born to Casper and Mary Ann Berry in 1963, she graduated from Sky View High School in 1981. She married Michael Breese of Kemmerer, Wyoming. They were blessed with three daughters and two grandsons.
Wherever Zane was, it was going to be a party! Whether it was at work, at a family reunion, or just hanging out, Zane was always up for a funny remembrance, a prank, or being pranked herself. No one in our family could laugh at herself quite like Zane. Her family was aware that Zane suffered through many debilitating health issues throughout her life that caused her lots of discomfort. However, she always maintained her ability to find laughter and joy even on the most uncomfortable days.
Zane was daughter number two of four, and she stood out even as a child. She was blonde, fair skinned and freckled face unlike her sisters who all had dark hair and olive skin. Even in grade school, Zane was always entertaining us. Here is a quote from one of her 5th grade assignments, "I would like to be a movie star and live in Hollywood and jump out of a cake in my bathing suit. I would like to have long dresses. I would never have to work." While she never jumped out of a cake, as far as we know, she certainly made things fun at work. As a server at her father's restaurant, she would add some humor when turning in orders to the kitchen staff. Two eggs over easy were submitted to the kitchen as "two eggs, ridin' the rails." Medium-rare steaks were communicated to the cooks as "turn 'em, don't burn 'em!" If a family hung out too long in the dining room after they'd finished eating, Zane would report to the kitchen, "We got campers out here!" Mostly the cooks had no idea what she was talking about.
Zane loved reality shows, and a favorite was My 600- lb Life. She would speak about the doctor on the show as if he was her personal physician. As far as Zane was concerned all family gatherings were opportunities to remember fun family stories. She was a fun one to play a prank on because she was great to laugh about it. Once when her mother and father could not get her to answer her home phone, they drove to Zane's home to check on her. A prankster had called her earlier and asked Zane to "help the phone company clear the dust out of the phone lines." When her parents arrived at her home, they found her phone receiver dutifully taken off the hook and wrapped in a towel so dust would not get all over the house while the phone company blew the dust out of her phone line!
We will all miss her sense of humor, her ability to smile in the face of adversity, and her gift to bring a smile to everyone's face. Heaven is a lighter-hearted place because she's now there. Author C.S. Lewis once said, "It isn't just that my friend died, it's that the part of me that only my friend could bring out would never be brought out again." Your family will love and miss you!
