Laurie LaFollette Obituary

Laurie Jean LaFollette

November 13, 1957 - June 28, 2025

Pelham, Alabama - Laurie Jean LaFollette was born in Duluth, Minnesota, on November 13, 1957, to Ida and Arden Larson. Laurie passed away on June 28, 2025, after battling lung cancer for nearly a year. She was greeted on the other side by her parents and her late husband, Bruce LaFollette. She is survived by her daughters, Brittiany Ross, Kelsey LaFollette, and Alexandra LaFollette, as well as eight beautiful grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Laurie spent the majority of her professional life as the CEO of multiple non-profit organizations in Idaho, including the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Saint Vincent De-Paul, and Special Olympics, significantly impacting the lives of those around her for the greater good.

Anyone who met Laurie would tell you that she never met a stranger. She could make anyone smile, and her vivacious laughter could be heard from a mile away. A true fashionista all her life, she could fill an entire room with her presence alone and was an unmistakable head turner. She always tried to make sure that her entourage of family and friends looked their best, even if it was just a trip to the grocery store.

Reflecting on Laurie's legacy, it is safe to say that she touched the lives of many people who will always remember her over-the-top and infectious personality. She was a faithful partner, devout Catholic, loving mother and grandmother, loyal sister, and supportive friend.

A memorial mass will take place on Saturday, August 16th at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, located at 811 S. Latah St, Boise, Idaho. A luncheon reception will follow. The family suggests donations be made in Laurie's name to Special Olympics Idaho by visiting their website or by sending flowers to Sacred Heart for the day of the memorial.

I am heartbroken to find this obituary. Laurie was my best friend in Wiesbaden, Germany.

She was nice, so funny, and a devoted friend and family member.

We talked several times about getting together again, and now I am so sad I didn´t make that happen.

She has held a place in my heart my whole life. There aren´t many people I could say that about.

The world has lost a true treasure.

Blessing to Laurie's family. We went to high school together in Wiesbaden, Germany. She is remembered as bright and fun loving. I'm thankful she has found peace.
