Elizabeth Goettle Obituary

Goettle Elizabeth A. "BETSY" (nee Conway) On July 26, 2025, at the age of 85. Betsy married Peter E. Goettle on August 11, 1961, and over the next half-century, together, they built a life grounded in love, family, and service to others in Willow Grove, PA. Peter predeceased Betsy in 2013. Born in Philadelphia on November 6, 1939, Elizabeth was the youngest of four children of Matthew and Margaret Conway (nee Farrell). She was preceded in death by her parents and beloved siblings Patricia, Matt, and Barbara. Elizabeth dedicated much of her professional life to helping those with special needs. For two decades, she worked with developmentally delayed adults and served as the Director of a workshop for such adults at Developmental Enterprises Corporation in Willow Grove. Later in life, she pursued her passion for helping others even further, earning a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from LaSalle University in 1997. She then practiced as a marriage and family counselor at Holy Redeemer in Huntingdon Valley until her retirement in 2017. Betsy is survived by her four children: Peter (Yvette), Lisa (Doug), Robert (Colleen), Daniel (Gwen), and by her cherished grandchildren: Michael (29) (Mackenzie), Jack (26) (Renna), Kathryn (24), Margaret (22), Jane (18), and Ryan (17). A Celebration of Elizabeth's Life will be held on Saturday, Aug 9th, 2025, at LEWIS FUNERAL HOME, 78 E Main St., Moorestown, NJ, 08057. Visitation will begin at 1:30 P.M. followed by a Memorial Service at 2:30 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to consider a donation in Elizabeth's memory to the Alzheimer's Association (https://www.alz.org/)

Cousins of the Farrell-Kelley clan were many, thirty-eight in all. My early recollections of Betsy are at the house on Rockland Street where many gathered on a Sunday afternoon when we were young. Betsy was the youngest of her clan (Margaret), I the oldest of mine (Tom). As we grew older, visits to Rockland Street became less frequent for my family, and our cousins grew up and we all went our separate ways. I recall two family reunions in the 70s and 80s, and most of the surviving aunts and uncles of that time were in attendance along with some of our cousins. After that, we seem to have lost touch again. Thanks to connections through Facebook and Ancestry I have made some connections over the years with a few of Conway first cousins once removed. Peter, you and I messaged a couple years ago on Ancestry at which time you told me Betsy was suffering with dementia. My husband had recently died of the same. I extend my sincere condolences to you and your siblings on the loss of your mother. To Betsy's nieces and nephews I am sorry for the loss of your aunt. I hope you young cousins keep in touch with each other. With warmest sympathy, your cousin Cathy.
