Joan Capella Obituary

Capella Joan D. (nee Leimkuhler) Of Sea Isle City, NJ, passed away on July 6, 2025, surrounded by her family. Joan was born on February 16, 1951, to Gerard and Dorothy Leimkuhler, in Philadelphia, PA. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother whose beautiful, warm smile and infectious laughter always made her family and friends feel special. Joan will be deeply missed by her loving husband of 52 years, Edward J. Capella; 2 daughters, Amy Capella Smith (Gregory), and Lisa Capella; and 5 grandchildren, Noah, Grace, Cory (Shalyssa), Shane, and Isabella. Joan is also survived by her siblings, Gerard Leimkuhler (Karen), Diane Sands (James), Mary Kay Leimkuhler-Mills, Mark Leimkuhler (Lisa), Lisa Lang (James) and Gary Leimkuhler (Peggy), as well as her sisters and brothers-in-law, Carol Ogilvie (Thomas), Rosemarie Olewnik (Dennis), Maryhelen Capella, Mark Capella (Sue), Gregory Capella (Bonnie), and many nieces and nephews. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers-in-law, Robert Capella and Craig Mills. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 10:45 .M., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at St. Joseph Church, 4308 Landis Avenue, Sea Isle City, NJ 08243.
