Donna McElreath Obituary

Donna June McElreath October 20, 1941 - June 19, 2025 Donna June McElreath went home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 3:33 p.m. in Fort Worth. She was 83 years old. Donna was born on October 20, 1941 in Wichita Falls to Thomas Doyle Scarber of Post Oak and Clarice Elizabeth Roper Scarber of Shannon. The young Scarber family resided in Henrietta until 1956 when they moved to Big Spring where Donna met her future husband, Billy Ray McElreath. They were married for 67 years.

Donna and Bill married on September 21, 1957 at the Northside Baptist Church in Big Spring. Donna was 15 and Bill was 20. Together, they raised their children, Stanley, Rhonda, and Shawn in the Fort Worth and North Richland Hills areas. Donna worked as a dental assistant for over 30 years around Tarrant County. Donna and Bill eventually moved to the town of Jacksboro where she retired in 2003. They became active members of the First Baptist Church. Donna especially enjoyed singing in the choir and serving on the hospitality team. Also, she worked various local part-time jobs which would enable her to participate in hobbies and other interests such as: reading; gardening; decorating; swimming; camping; going to gospel concerts; church events; playing Keno; and visiting friends and relatives.

Donna is preceded in death by her parents mentioned above and her brother, Randy Scarber; and her grandson, Zachary (Zak) McElreath.

Those left behind to cherish her memory include: husband, Bill McElreath; children, Stanley McElreath of Graham; Rhonda McElreath Berry and husband Charles of Jacksboro; and Shawn Villarreal and husband Eric of Fort Worth. God provided eight grandchildren to Donna (Nonna): Carleigh Reynolds and husband Trace of Brock; Rebeka Sanchez and husband Ramsey of Weatherford; Jacob McElreath of Denton; Alyssa McElreath of Hurst; Skylar Stewart of Atlanta, GA; Jorah Villarreal of Fort Worth; and Emory Villarreal of Fort Worth. In addition, Nonna was blessed with three great grandchildren: Ridgley Sanchez (5) and Riggs Sanchez (2) both of Weatherford; and Boone Reynolds (2) of Brock. Donna has one sister, Elizabeth (Beth) Fletcher of Midland. She has many extended family members and friends who were very special to her.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at the First Baptist Church in Jacksboro, Texas. Private interment at the Post Oak Cemetery at a later date.
