Joanne Sawyer Obituary
Joanne worked for Consumers Energy for many years, retiring in 2000. She was a member of the Grotto Club in Jackson. Joanne enjoyed working on family genealogy, playing games with friends and family, and traveling with Jim in earlier years. She continued to work on family photo albums even as illness overtook her. Joanne enjoyed spending summers at, and having friends and family visit, "the cabin" in Cheboygan. Jim and Joanne lived in the same house in Jackson for over 60 years until a recent move to Gaylord.
The family is very thankful for the wonderful staff at Harmony House in Cheboygan, and for the caring staff of Compassus Hospice of Gaylord. A special thank you to her nurse, Lindsey. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Harmony House of Cheboygan, or Compassus Hospice of Gaylord, in her memory. A private family celebration of life will take place.

To Bob and Kim, my former school mates and to all her family, my deepest sympathy and condolences on Joanne's passing. I worked very closely with Joanne at Consumers for many years. You never had to guess with her....she told it like it was and always with a smile! She taught me a lot with much patience as she was a super valuable person because she knew a lot. I will always remember her sense of humor in the workplace.. She had a plaque on her cubicle wall that said, "It should be done, it must be done and it will be done....tomorrow!" What a gal!
