Joseph Kormos Obituary

Joseph "Joe" Vendel Kormos Jr., age 88, of Hillsdale, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2025, in Jackson, Michigan. He was born on July 5, 1936, to the late Joseph Sr. and Mary Kormos.
Joe was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 35 years, Elsie Kormos; his parents; and brothers, Albert (Sally Ann) Kormos and Henry Kormos.
He is survived by his children, Valerie (Rick) Bradley, Joseph W. (Suzanne) Kormos, and Glenn A. Kormos (Tina Moore); his cherished grandchildren, Joshua (Nichole) Bradley, Jeremy Bradley (Ariel Pickering), Jayson Bradley, Jenna Bradley, Noah Kormos, and Elissa Kormos; brother, Kenneth (Cassandra) Kormos; sister-in-laws, Sandra Kormos and Marlene Graziana; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Joe and Elsie were married on July 10, 1965, in New Boston, Michigan. In 1978, they moved to Hanover, where they raised their family on an 80-acre farm. Farming was always a part of Joe's life beginning in his youth when he worked alongside his parents on their 40-acre farm in New Boston. He especially enjoyed taking their fresh produce to the Detroit Eastern Market, where he took pride in meeting customers and sharing the fruits of their labor.
Joe proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1959 to 1962. During his service, he spent time overseas, with his most memorable posting in Rome, Italy a place he often fondly recalled throughout his life.
Joe had a deep love for aviation. In his younger years, he obtained his private pilot's license and enjoyed taking his family on flights, a passion that remained close to his heart throughout his life.
Professionally, Joe worked as a draftsman, contributing to the design and development of Ford vehicles until his retirement in 1984. After retirement, Joe continued working his farm with his sons, keeping the family farming tradition going.
Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, July 17, 2025, from 11:00 AM until the time of Mass at 1:00 PM at St. Catherine Laboure Church, 211 Harmon Ave., Concord, Michigan 49237, with Fr. Timothy MacDonald officiating.
