James Thomas Obituary

James Alton Thomas, son of the late Alton and Bernice O'Rourke Thomas, of Mount Prospect died at JourneyCare in Barrington on July 6, 2025. Jim is survived by Linda, (Noonan), his wife of 30 years and his five children from a previous marriage: Laurie (Jerry) Steinborn, Philip (Ronda) Thomas, Jeff Thomas, Julie (Louis) Parrino, and Glenn.

Jim is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, a niece Claudia Owens, and loving in-laws. He was preceded in death by his sister, Carol.

Jim was born in Chicago and raised in Maywood. He was in the Marine Corps from 1956-1958. He obtained a bachelor's degree in history at the University of Illinois.

Visitation was held Thursday, July 10 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Friedrichs Funeral Home in Mount Prospect. The funeral was on Friday, July 11 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial was at Memory Gardens in Arlington Heights.
