Fred Babbitt Obituary

Fred Leander Babbitt
06/19/2025
Fred Babbitt, beloved husband of the late Doris M. (Zepf) Babbitt and dear father of their late children, Christopher and Cynthia, died peacefully at home. Raised in Worcester, MA, Fred was a 1948 graduate of North High School. He joined the navy in 1951, going to radio school after boot camp. His ship was home ported in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. While there, he met the love of his life. They were married in St Stephen's church in St. Louis, MO. He worked for many years for ATT in Hartford. Fred was active in the boy scouts and in the Episcopal church, helping to found St. Peter's, South Windsor. He served as lay Eucharistic minister, chalice bearer, Vestry member, and generous volunteer. He was also a Justice of the Peace, Chairman of the Board of Tax Review, a volunteer firefighter, and on the Zoning Board of Appeals. He played many musical instruments. He loved to travel. His memorial service is July 19 in St. John's Church, 523 Hartford Tpke, Vernon, CT, followed by interment at the Babbitt Family Cemetery in E. Killingly. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. John's are welcome.
