Ronald Villanova Obituary

Ronald A. Villanova
Ronald A. Villanova, of Tolland, CT, passed away on July 10, 2025, surrounded by his family.
He was predeceased by his wife, Roberta, of 59 years. He leaves behind his children, Donna Villanova Carson and husband, Kevin Carson, Robert Villanova and wife, Jayne, Darlene Villanova and husband, Ed Johnson, Rhonda Villanova and husband, John, Dean Villanova and wife, Dawn. He also leaves 13 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
He was born in Providence, Rhode Island, one of four children of the late Vito and Claire Villanova. Ron's early life in West Gloucester, Rhode Island, included working on his future wife's grandfather's dairy farm – a job he always included on his resume, also as a pizza maker, a Volunteer for the West Gloucester Fire Department and Emergency Rescue Squad, and in a fiber mill while attending Providence College. Moving to Connecticut with his growing family, to attend UConn School of Law, he began working at Aetna Life and Casualty as a tax examiner. Upon graduating with his Juris Doctorate, he began his career as a corporate attorney. He played on multiple hockey teams with local businesses and coached PeeWee Hockey. He eventually retired from Aetna as a Vice President of the Law Department. While working in the law department, he created a training program for Legal Assistants and taught at Hartford Women's College. He published three textbooks from the program he created and the classes he taught. Ron had a great sense of humor and was a storyteller at heart. Coming from a long line of storytellers and, at the prompting of family and friends, he published a book telling some of his stories in "Letters to Uncle Fred." Under the tutelage of his uncles, Fred and Godfrey, WWII veterans, he was a patriot through and through. A lifelong learner of history, ancient civilizations, and anomalous discoveries, among other things, he could speak at length about just about anything. He worked hard his whole life and, after retirement, he worked on old cars for the joy of it. But above all, Ron cared deeply for his wife and family, and took pride in raising hard-working, productive, children. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
All services will be private. In lieu of flowers, commit acts of kindness without expecting anything in return. Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home is assisting the family. To leave a condolence, please visit www.carmonfuneralhome.com .
