Otjen, Lora Watts June 14, 2006. Born November 5, 1924. Several years ago a friend of Lora's, a journalist who occasionally wrote obituaries, asked her what she would like her obit to read. Lora suggested:
LET IT BE SAID THAT SHE MADE GOOD BREAD
"Okay," said the friend, "but didn't you also raise a bunch of loving, happy children, surround your Prince Charming with tender, unwavering devotion, accumulate lots and lots of treasured friends and turn out a goodly number of lighthearted bronze and wire sculptures?" "That too," said Lora, with a tilt of the head, "but please don't forget about the home made bread."
Preceded in death by her cherished husband, Carl Neprud Otjen; daughter Jean; dear siblings George Watts, William Watts and Helen Watts Ziegler. Survived by her children, John (Virginia) Krauthoefer, Jill (Robert) Kuhlman, Linzi (DuWayne) Gronning, Lorraine (Peter) Cunningham, and Christian (Cate) Otjen. Survived also by grandchildren Alanna Krauthoefer, John Adolph, Skyler Gronning, Trevor Gronning and Audrey Cunningham, many beloved nieces and nephews, treasured sister-in-law, Martie Watts and loving cat, Mattie.
A reception for friends and family will be held at the Woman's Club of Wisconsin, 813 East Kilbourn Avenue from 3-6 PM on Thursday, June 22. Memorials to The Carl & Lora Otjen Family Fund, c/o The Greater Milwaukee Foundation or the charity of your choice would be deeply appreciated in lieu of flowers.
