Gene Domangue Obituary

With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of our brother Gene Andrew Domangue on October 6, 2025 at the age 57. He is survived by his sister, Leah Domangue Lina (James) and his twin sister Gena Domangue Bell. His companion, Sheri Danos and his nieces and nephews, Kaylee Lina, Jordan Domangue, Jacob Bell, Randi Bell and Jaxson Bell, along with his pup "Zena". He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary King, father, Elgin "Gene" Domangue and mother Hazel Cenac Domangue, grandparents, Hudson and Enola Domangue and Henry Jean Pierre and Beatrice Cenac, along with many Aunts and Uncles. Gene "Mean Gene" was a musical soul whose rhythm and laughter touched everyone who knew him. Born blind, Gene never let that stand in his way. His love for music began at the age of five, when he started playing guitar and signing at bayou fairs and festivals throughout Louisiana. From the beginning, he was a natural performer who could light up any stage - and any heart. Gene graduated from the Louisiana School for the Visually Impaired (LSVI) where he met his Mentor and dear friend, "Bandman." His journey through music took him far and wide, eventually leading him to Nashville where he continued to share his talent and even had the extraordinary honor of meeting the Pope. Ever dedicated to learning and growing Gene earned a degree from Delgado College to further his education. Throughout his career, Gene mastered nearly every instrument he touched, drums, keyboard, piano, saxophone and electric guitar among them. When his eyesight made touring more difficult, he continued to share his love of music as a DJ, filling rooms with laughter, dancing and joy. Gene will always be remembered for his big heart, his sense of humor and his ability to make everyone feel like family. His laughter and smile were as unforgettable as the songs he played. Thank you to all family and friends that helped with the funeral arrangements. We appreciate your kindness.
