Church Point, LA: A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at Point Church in
Church Point, LA for Shirlene B. Gianfala, 84, the former Shirlene Boudreaux. Mrs. Gianfala, a native and long-time resident of Church Point, died Sunday morning, October 12 at Senior Village Nursing and Rehab; Opelousas, LA. Bishop Ricki Pavlu and Associate Pastor Rick Hardwick will conduct the Service with Interment immediately following in the First Baptist Cemetery on Hwy 35.
Survivors include her daughter, Pauline Gianfala of Church Point; her sons, Quinn Gianfala and wife Susan of Church Point and Leonard Gianfala and wife Ying of Katy, TX; her grandchildren: Sebastian and Luke Gianfala, Lydia Daigle Moreau and husband Brooks and Janie Daigle O'Neal and husband Dakota; her great-grandchildren: Landon, Emmett, Vivienne, Adeline, Ace and Dean and her sisters-in-law, Pamela Hebert and husband Louis and Jackie Gianfala. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Gianfala; her parents, Jarsin and Lillian Brasseaux Boudreaux; her brothers, Jeroy and Moise Boudreaux; her sisters, Mildred Arceneaux and Janelle Jeanise; her father and mother-in-law, S. L. and Alyce Gianfala and a brother-in-law, Byron Gianfala.
Well-known in Church Point, Mrs. Gianfala was a devout Pentecostal and devoted member of Point Church. A loving wife, mother and grandmother; she was truly loved and will be missed by her extended family and all who knew her. Shirlene was also a wonderful cook whose kitchen was always filled with warmth and laughter. She was famous for her stuffed artichokes, her caramel popcorn at Christmas, her homemade chocolate cake for her children's birthdays, her spaghetti and meatballs, and her delicious gumbo shared at family gatherings. She cherished traveling with her sisters, discovering new places, and finding joy in every adventure. One of her favorite getaways was to Toledo Bend, where she loved fishing with her husband and spending time at their family fish camp. Above all, Shirlene loved the Lord deeply and was never afraid to share her faith with anyone she met. Her feisty, humorous personality and genuine heart brought joy to everyone around her. She lived for God and for her family and her love, laughter, and faith will continue to live on through them.
Visitation will be held at Point Church from 9:00 AM until the time of the Service. Arrangements are being handled by Guidry Funeral Home, Inc.
