Just one more note. Rod was the sort of man that just made the world around him a little better. He had a positive energy that was contagious. Marcia and Rod, I still just can't get over the seeming unfairness of Rod's passing. Take care. I am so very sorry. Jay

While good men die, their contributions do not. Rod was such a wonderful, caring, trustworthy friend and supervisor! He gave us time, laughter and encuragement. Now, only the time is gone. He mentored me at one of the darkest times of my career with Exxon. For those of us who were fortunate enough to work with him on a daily basis, we also saw a respected professional and community volunteer who also contributed in innumerable ways to our careers and our personal lives. The Apostle Paul in his letter to the Romans declared, "Every man must give an account of himself to God". Rod's account is long. His seeds of progress and forward thinking have already bloomed in our lifetime. As a dedicated Christian, we know his eternal home is with our Lord. We will all miss him. To his beloved family, Ronnie and I wish to extend our deepest sympathy.

Sha,
There are no words. I wish so much we could be with you. Just know that our hearts are there and that our prayers are streaming.

I can still see Rodney when I first met him in college and I can see him when he stood with you to be our baby's Godfather. He and I danced together at our other son's wedding just last November...It was a gift that we were able to be with him...now he has gone on ahead of us I have no doubt we will have another dance when we all meet again. I love you so much - please let me know how I can be there for you.

Dear Marcia,
My deepest sympathy to you at this time. My prayers & thoughts are with you & your family. 20 yrs ago, when I found your phone number among Roy's notes, I had no idea whose number it was. Roy was trying to set up a dinner date for him & I with you and Rodney. How surprised I was to find out you were Marcia King, my long time neighbor from New Orleans. ( I am Michelle's aunt Doris). The event never happened, & now I guess Roy & Rod have found each other on the "other side". Please call me if you need a friend, I will be praying for you. Please extend my sympathy to your son & Vi & Walter.
Much Love, "Aunt Doris"

Dear Marcia and Rodney,

I feel privileged to have known Rodney since we met on a cold winter night in January of 2007 at Rainbow Lodge. In working with Rodney to assist him in completing some important decisions, I found him to be extremely intelligent and possessing uncommon courage.

I recently shared with my wife that one of the things I was most proud of in my 25 year professional career was when Rodney asked me to work with him. Rodney showed me how to handle adversity with dignity and valor and I am better for it.

Sincerely,

Joshette Jackson Of Energy Capital Credit Union

Marcia and Rod II:

When you find a true friend, it is like finding a buried treasure. That is what I found when I met Rod in the early 70's. Our spirits meshed immediately. I could always count on Rod for anything. I will miss him in the flesh, but he will remain with me in the spirit.

I know your grief is great, but call on Jesus and He will help you see beyond this cross. Rod was a good husband, father, and friend. I believe he will sit at the banquet table in heaven with our friend Jesus.

Love Always,

Gregory & Carmen Bazile

I would like to sincerely offer my condolences on the passing of Rod Galatas.

Rod was my supervisor when I worked in Land Administration at Exxon and a fellow parishioner at Christ the Good Shepherd Catholic Church. He was not only a great supervisor but a great man who really respected the dignity of each individual. I remember well that he would stop in each of our offices every morning with a smile to "check in." He was always interested in us both personally and professionally and took a sincere interest in our families.

Rod was not only extremely intelligent but had excellent "people skills" and great common sense, a rare combination.

He could see the big picture and knew the benefit of a clear and guiding faith. He set a great example for us because his priorities were always focused on his family, Marcia and Rodney.

I have so much respect and admiration for Rod. He was instrumental to me in my career. I always felt like Rod was on my side.

A great man by all accounts, he will be dearly missed.

To the Family of the Late Rod Galatas:

It is with a deep sense of loss and sorrow that I extend condolences to you at this difficult time. I was my priviledge to work with Rod for several years in Houston and watch his advancement at ExxonMobil. He was a first class individual.

In time you will find comfort in knowing that you will see him again on the other side.

Your brother in Christ,

Randolph and Dee Garcia

Marcia and Rod,

My deepest sympathy on Rodney's passing. He was a special person.

I lost a good buddy but will have the memories of all the great times we had together: Boy Scouts, hunting, Cajun cooking, building "the cabin", talking about Louisiana, enjoying a "cool one" and solving the world's problems.

Not often does one have a good friend like Rodney and I am thankful that he was mine. I know that if ever there was a person who was in good graces with The Lord, it is Rodney. May God Bless and keep him.

To Marcia and family,

I am truely sorry to hear of the passing away of Rodney. I considered him a good friend; along with as being a fraternity brother in Delta Sigma Pi.

I remember our times a SLU when he asked me if he should get involved with the Studend Government there. I told him to get on board with it - it would look good on your resume'. He really did well in SGA.

Again, my deepest regrets on his passing. I will miss him.

Most sincerely,

Terrell & Susan Ford
