KENDALLVILLE - With profound sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of Lucille Wood at the age of 99. She peacefully left this world on June 21, 2025, surrounded by her family. She fortunately lived a long fulfilling life.
Lucille was born on Dec. 6, 1925, in Cameron, Texas.
After graduating from high school, she married George E. Wood, an Army Lieutenant Officer. He preceded her in death in 1993.
She is survived by her two sons, George H. Wood and Gregory P. Wood; along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She lived most of her life in southern Michigan, and northern Indiana. She then returned to Texas, for the last few years of her life.
Lucille enjoyed living in a small-town environment and taking walks to enjoy the outside. She enjoyed traveling and experiencing different cultures. As a homemaker she valued education and saw to it that her family was driven to get educated and independently go forward and live fulfilling lives.
As a Christian, Lucille relied on God to give her the strength to persevere over life's challenges.
Cremation will be followed by interment beside her husband near Fort Wayne, Indiana.
