Lillian VanDeventer Obituary

Lillian Frances (Noland) VanDeventer was born at her family home near Mound City, Missouri on June 4, 1939. She passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at Tiffany Heights in Mound City after a brief illness. Lillian graduated from Mound City High School in 1957. She worked at a restaurant for awhile. Then she worked at Mound City News-Independent for many years followed by working for Johnson Insurance until her retirement. She married Ralph VanDeventer on September 12, 1964, and they lived in Mound City. Ralph preceded her in death on June 15, 1983. Lillian attended church at the Mound City Presbyterian Church. She loved horses and reading. Also preceding her in death were her parents, Glenn and Frances Noland; her sister, Betty Grishow; nephews, Jay Grishow, Phil Blazer, and niece Cris VanDeventer. Lillian is survived by her sister-in-law, Iva VanDeventer, Mound City; cousins, Laura Jo (Clenell) Prettyman of Barnard, Missouri; and Shirley Barnett of Savannah, Missouri; nephews, Scott Grishow and Charlie Bill (Vona) Blazer, Forest City, Missouri, and Tom (Samantha) VanDeventer of Mound City; nieces, Janet (Earl) Cromer, Oregon, Missouri, Susie Stewart and Robin Partridge, Wamego, Kansas, and Carol Brandon, Mound City. Memorials may be directed to the Mount Hope Cemetery. Funeral services: Tuesday, July 8, 2025, 10:30 am, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Mound City, where family will greet friends beginning at 10:00 am.
