Wade Parkin Obituary
Wade A. Parkin (61) resident of St. Maries, ID passed away at his home on July 30, 2025. He was born to Donald and Sylvia Parkin in Superior, MT on September 9, 1963. Wade grew up in Superior and excelled at football while in school. Born with stellar work ethic, Wade started his career in the woods while in high school. Although he was not yet logging at this time, he gathered firewood and helped manufacture cedar shakes. Wade graduated from Superior High School with the class of 1982.
Following high school, the woods were where his heart and passion were. He started out logging as a sawyer and hooker quickly graduating to running heavy equipment; he learned quickly and was naturally skilled. During this time in his life, he met the love of his life Sue, and the couple married in Superior after a 3-year courtship. After working for several loggers in the Superior area for several years, Wade went to work for Walter B. Scott and Son's Logging in St. Maries. When the timber industry was failing in Montana and thriving in Idaho, he and Sue moved to St. Maries to be closer to his work. Wade later went to work for Bob Danielson for a few years, one fun fact about working there was the show Axman came on one of their logging jobs to see if they would be a good candidate for the reality tv show, come to find out the crew wasn't as dramatic as the show would like, so they weren't selected and Wade was actually relieved as he felt show biz wouldn't have been for him anyways. Bob gave Wade an opportunity to purchase some logging equipment, so in 2013 Parkin Forestry was established predominantly logging for Potlatch-Deltic. Wade ran the business with Sue by his side. He was the boots on the ground boss where Sue was the glue that held it all together, and they made a great team. This team, however, consisted of one of the best logging crews in North Idaho; they were dedicated and were part of the Parkin family.
Wade was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trap shooting. He and Sue's claim to fame was winning the Calder Day's 2012 Jack and Jill competition, something they were proud of finishing together. One of Wade's most favorite things to do was hanging out with friends and family enjoying each other's company with a cold drink in one hand and a blazing fire roaring in the fire pit. About 5 years ago, Wade accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was baptized in the Real Life Ministries Church in the Silver Valley and was a member and regular attendant at the church.
Wade is survived by his wife Sue at their home near St. Maries; children Robbie (Scott) Savelkoul of Culbertson, MT, Kimberly (Joe) Gordon of St. Regis, MT, Justin (Tasha) Dent of Superior, MT, Cody (Jennay) Wilkinson of Kalispell, MT, and Melissa Wilkinson of Kalispell, MT; sister Valerie Parkin of Billings, MT; and siblings in-law Laurie (Lynn) Nowland of Luicle, ID, David (Amy) Renner of Pinehurst, ID, and Shelly (Paul) Tappe of Delta Junction, AK; numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins; his beloved 4 legged kids Finn, Millie, and Jane, and his dedicated work crew. He is preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Life for Wade will be announced at a later date.
