Rachel (Sacia) Wason, 96, died July 12, 2025.
She was born in La Crosse, WI, on May 8, 1929, to Ethan and Lenora (Dettinger) Sacia. She grew up in Galesville, WI on the family apple orchard. She married her high school sweetheart, Dan Wason, on October 16, 1948. They farmed in Centerville, WI, and for 35 years owned and operated Wason's Supper Club in Galesville. Dan and Rachel enjoyed over 55 years together until Dan passed away on April 5, 2003.
Rachel was a homemaker dedicated to caring for her home and family. She started sewing her own clothes in high school and her flair for design continued throughout her life.
Rachel is survived by two daughters, Danna (Peter) Bentz of La Crosse, WI and Mary (John) Wilson of Las Vegas, NV.; two sons, David (Vicki) Wason of Trempealeau, WI and John (Barbara) Wason of Glendale, AZ; grandchildren, Dan (Sue) Truax, Jeanne Stoeckly (Kevin Naas), Corie Kellerman, Jeff Twesme, Jenny (Barney) Landry, David C. Wason, Eric Wason, Mark (Tori) Wason, Adam (Nora) Wason; 18 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Peggy (Bob) Halmrast.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a son-in-law, Tom Twesme; sisters and brothers-in-law, Gloria (Dave) Elkins, Sally (Ken) Schumacher, Carol (Mike) Corcoran, Diane (Bill) Moran; and brother, Fred (Bev) Sacia.
Funeral services will be Friday, July 18, 2025, 2 p.m. at Zwickey Funeral Homes, Galesville Chapel. Burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Centerville.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday one hour prior to services.
We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Prairie Home Assisted Living in Holmen for the wonderful friendship and care Mom received there for many years.
