Hannah Wells Obituary
Hannah Wells, born to Karen and James Wells on October 9, 2000, in Waconia, Minnesota, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 24 on January 22, 2025 in Aurora, Colorado.
She was raised in Orono, Minnesota, and graduated from Mound Westonka High School in 2019. After high school, Hannah earned her associate's degree in liberal arts from Minneapolis Community and Technical College in December 2020.
Hannah's warm spirit and passion for helping others were evident throughout her life. She worked in various roles, including as a Teacher at Westonka School Age Kids Core in Minnesota, a Manager/Server at Lords Fletcher's Old Lake Lodge, a Bartender/Server at Surfside Bar and Grill, and Lazy Dog Restaurant and Bar, and as a Supervisor for Aramark Catering at Coors Field with the Colorado Rockies.
As a child, Hannah loved playing with her Barbies and Build-a-Bears, always ensuring they were dressed and styled just right. She had a creative side, exploring arts, crafts, and pottery. During her high school and college years, she had a deep love for music, finding new artists, attending concerts, and enjoying time with friends, driving around, and creating lasting memories. One of her favorite pastimes was organizing social gatherings for friends, helping to form lifelong bonds.
In July of 2023, Hannah made the move to the metro Denver area to experience new opportunities and the beauty of nature. She embraced every opportunity to hike, explore National and State Parks, and chase the most beautiful sunrises. Her love for nature extended to her admiration for the Northern Lights. Hannah had plans to visit Iceland with her mom to experience the Northern Lights in their full brilliance.
Hannah was known for her love of planning and bringing people together, often organizing family and friends for trips and special events. She was looking forward to moving back to Minnesota in the spring to continue her education in the medical field.
Hannah is survived by her mother Karen and stepfather David McCowan (her "bonus dad"); her father James Wells and his wife Tracy; her brother Alex Wells; her half-sister Samantha Gale Anquillano Wells; her grandmother Janett Wells; and her "bonus siblings" Luke McCowan (Zoey) and their children Leo and Dawson, and Maiah McCowan. She also leaves behind a large extended family, including many aunts, uncles, and cousins who she considered her village.
Hannah was preceded in death by her grandparents Roger and Verna Ekeberg, Dennis Wells, her aunt Connie Schwartz, and great-grandparents.
Though Hannah never started her own family, her closest friends became her chosen family. She is deeply loved by Melissa Christlieb, Asha Martel, Mel Barnett, Andrea Sympson, Aliyah Callender, Terrell Christlieb, Crystal and Jeff Flattum, and Sue and Bill Schepers, who were her closest companions. She also had a special relationship with Christina and Emily Garfunkel, Jillian and Grant Schuerman, and Jaden Callender-Carter.
Hannah's life was filled with love, laughter, and the pursuit of adventure. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and chosen family. Hannah's light will forever shine in the memories of those who loved her.
